Koko’s 1st namaz-e-janaza held in Malaysia

The first namaz-e-janaza for Arafat Rahman Koko, the younger son of former president Ziaur Rahman and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, was held in Malaysia after Zohr prayers.


Malaysia chapter BNP leaders Engineer Bazlur Rahman and Mahbub Alam Shah told UNB and the janaza was held on the premises of Malaysia National Mosque-Negara Mosque.

The Imam of the mosque led the janaza.

Hundreds of people, including Bangladeshi expatriates living in Malaysia attended the janaza.

BNP chairperson’s younger brother Shamim Iskander, her adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu, Barisal Zila BNP vice president Sarfuddin Ahmed Santu, MPs Nurul Islam Moni and Ali Ajgar Lobi, among others, joined the janaza.

After the janaza, his body was taken back to the mortuary of the Malaya University Hospital.

Meanwhile, a condolence book was opened in front of BNP chairperson Gulshan’s office around 1pm for common people to express their shock at the death of Arafat Rahman. He died in Malaysia on Saturday at the age of 45.

Though BNP is yet to make any formal announcement when Koko’s body will be brought back home, a number of senior party leaders told UNB it might be flow in anytime on Monday.
