7 suspected robbers lynched in Narsingdi

Seven suspected robbers have been killed in a mass beating while they were taking preparation for robbery at Bhatapara village under the sadar upazila early Monday.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Panchdona union parishad Chairman MIzanur Rahman confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the death.

He said: “A gang of 24 robbers swooped into the house of one Ali Akbar, a local transport businessman, in Takshal area around 1:30am. Hearing Akbar’s scream locals went to the spot and started chasing the robbers.”

Meanwhile, locals also announced about the incident from a nearby mosque. They managed to capture eight of the robbers and beat them up, leaving seven dead on the spot. The other was handed over to the police.

Narshingdi sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kashem said: “Being informed police recovered the bodies and sent them to Sadar hospital for autopsy. The injured was also admitted to the hospital.”

Criminal activities have increased in the area, added the UP chairman.
